When Genevieve was born in July 2024, I felt something I will never forget: undeniable proof that God truly hears and answers prayers.
I have always known I wanted to be a mother. And although my path looked nothing like I once imagined, I can now see how each twist, setback, and unexpected turn shaped me into who I am today. This journey deepened my faith, stretched me, softened me, and ultimately taught me how to surrender. And trust God completely.
Anyone who knows me knows I’m a planner. I love order, clarity, and the comfort of certainty. Change and the unknown have always made me anxious. But infertility and embryo adoption brought me face-to-face with the very thing I avoided: letting go. I had no choice but to release my grip and allow God to write the story His way. And looking back now, seeing the thread of events that led to Genevieve’s life, I’m reminded that God works in the details. His plans aren’t random; they are intentional, purposeful, and good, even when they do not feel easy.
Genevieve’s entrance into the world was far from typical. At 30 weeks, due to sudden and severe pregnancy complications, I was admitted to the hospital. My condition quickly worsened, and less than a week later, I faced an emergency C-section. She arrived weighing just over three pounds; so tiny, yet already so mighty.
From her very first breath, she showed the doctors, the nurses, and all of us who loved her that she had a fierce will and a calling all her own. Genevieve fought with determination, meeting milestone after milestone as if she were checking them off a list. After about a month in the NICU and another couple of weeks in the special care nursery, she came home. Strong, stable, and without complications.
Those long days and nights in the hospital were heavy and exhausting, but I never walked them alone. My faith, and the unwavering support of family and friends, kept me grounded when fear tried to overwhelm me. I still don’t fully understand the “why” behind this part of our story, but I believe that one day, Genevieve’s journey will bring hope and encouragement to someone else who needs it.
Already, she has taught me more than I could have imagined. Through her, I’ve learned about unconditional love, patience, flexibility, and the beauty of surrender. When life feels like too much, I hold her close—and everything else falls away. In her eyes, I see pure love, God’s love, reflected back at me. It is a daily reminder that God still works miracles, and He often chooses to show His love through the people He places in our lives.
From just a handful of embryonic cells, Genevieve grew into this strong, beautiful, purpose-filled little girl. My long-awaited miracle. I am forever grateful for this journey, every bump included. And if I were asked to walk it again, I would say yes in a heartbeat.
