Our journey through infertility has been a profound testament to resilience, love, and the unexpected paths life can take.

My wife and I have been together since we were nineteen, and over the years, our bond has deepened through shared joys and sorrows, shaping us into the family we are today.

Our story began with tragedy. My wife’s father passed away in a devastating motorcycle accident, and in those dark moments, I reached out to comfort her. What began as support during a difficult time grew into a deep and lasting connection. At the time, she was raising her young son, Blake, whom I embraced as my own. Today, I am incredibly proud of the remarkable 16-year-old he has become.

As our love grew, so did our desire to expand our family. This became especially poignant for me after my own mother passed away in my late twenties. Her absence made me acutely aware that she would never meet the children we dreamed of having together.

Determined to unravel the mystery behind our infertility, I took a job with a local EMS company to secure health insurance and began the medical journey. Initial tests revealed no fertility issues on my end, so we turned our focus to my wife’s health. That is when we received a devastating diagnosis: she had early-stage cervical cancer. It felt like our dreams of parenthood were slipping away. However, after a biopsy and subsequent negative screenings, we moved forward with cautious optimism, though fertility medications yielded no success.

More complications emerged when we learned one of her fallopian tubes was blocked, requiring a painful procedure to open it. Still, we pressed on, pursuing intrauterine insemination (IUI), but after multiple failed attempts, our OB-GYN referred us to a fertility specialist. Transitioning to a fertility clinic in Houston marked a turning point in our journey. We discovered my wife had polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), but she had a high follicle count—a glimmer of hope amidst the struggle.

Choosing to proceed with IVF felt like a leap of faith. But that decision led to 24 viable embryos, and months later, our first IVF attempt resulted in the birth of our son, Levi. That moment filled our hearts with immeasurable joy and gratitude, a hard-earned triumph after years of challenges. However, our journey was not over. We faced both joy and heartache—a miscarriage followed by a successful twin pregnancy from our third embryo transfer.

With our family now complete, we faced another important decision: what to do with our remaining embryos.

After much thought, we chose to donate them through Snowflakes Embryo Adoption, offering other couples the opportunity to build their own families.

The embryo adoption process was emotionally charged, requiring careful consideration and tough decisions. We faced setbacks along the way, including families who turned us down. Nevertheless, eventually, we found what we believe are the perfect matches. What began as our personal journey of struggle and loss evolved into one of hope and generosity, helping others find their own way through infertility.

Throughout it all, the emotional roller coaster of infertility tested our resilience. My wife’s PCOS, combined with the challenges of starting our family later in life, added layers of complexity. But our determination never wavered.

If there is one thing we have learned from this journey, it is the importance of perseverance and never losing hope.

Today, as we look back, we are filled with gratitude for the children we have and the families we have been able to help. Our story is one of strength, love, and the incredible power of never giving up on your dreams.
